After becoming motivated to ride upon attending a Supercross race, Matt Lemoine got a bike and rode for about 6th months before entering his first Loretta Lynn's qualifier, placing just outside the top ten. He went on to have a successful amateur career, capturing Loretta Lynn's titles in 2004 and 2006.

Matt Lemoine made his pro debut in 2007 with Star Racing, finishing 4th in his 2nd race in the 250 West Supercross class and 8th overall in points that year.

In the outdoor series, Lemoine worked himself up to a top 10 finish in 250 Class points in 2009, but was unable replicate that success over the next two years and bounced between teams. Riding for HRT Racing in 2012, Lemoine made the move up to the 450 Class outdoors after five years on the 250, but only placed 26 overall in points.

Lemoine joined JAB Motorsports in 2013, but missed the majority of the season after tearing his ACL during practice at Dallas.
