Martin Davalos will sit out the final round at Ironman this weekend, according to a report from Racer X Online.

Davalos sustained a knee injury in the second moto at Budds Creek and after consulting with his doctors, it was recommended he sit out Ironman for preventative reasons. It's a smart decision by Davalos for the big picture, but was likely a difficult conclusion to reach after such a stellar performance on the 450 this year.

The long time 250 Class rider showed his potential in the 450 Class this summer, proving he has the speed and endurance to stay up front. Many had questions about Davalos moving up, but in just the last bit of the season he’s had two overall podiums, not to mention three moto podiums. With decent starts, Davalos certainly proved he was a contender.

He currently sits in 7th place in the points standings.
