TRACK BIO

Established: 2013

Muddy Creek Raceway joined the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in 2013, but by then it was long established as one of America’s premier spots for grassroots racing. Even the drive into the facility can help explain that, as the entrance road is lined with billboards naming past track champions in the legendary Southeastern moto championship series. Many of those riders have since turned pro and now contend for podiums weekly at the Nationals. The Southeast’s best talent has arrived on the big stage, and so has the venue they grew to love.

Muddy Creek is a tight track with several sharp corners that set up aggressive passes. Riders can make up ground through the air, too, with some big leaps in front of the spectator areas and the massive uphill triple named The Bomber. Clearing these jumps is not a given—soil conditions change throughout the day, and those variations can turn an easy leap into something very challenging. Success here requires constant scanning for new lines and fresh dirt—something the locals know how to do better than most.

The track keeps churning out more talent, too, with the amateur camping area in view just over the ridge at the top of the track. Muddy Creek has its big National now, but hasn’t lost sight of the family-friendly feel that put it on the map.
