Report: Jason Anderson close to return but will miss Unadilla

August 9, 2018

Fans hoping to see 2018 supercross champ Jason Anderson racing motocross again this season will have to wait at least one more week. Racer X is reporting that Anderson, who has missed the last seven rounds with a broken foot, will sit out another race this weekend at Unadilla but stands a good chance at returning next weekend for Budds Creek.

The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider was coming off a podium finish at May's Glen Helen event before getting hurt during a testing session. He originally targeted Unadilla for his return date, partially in hopes of putting himself in contention for a spot on the U.S. Motocross of Nations team, but in a text message to Racer X, team manager Bobby Hewitt said that Anderson will not be lining up this weekend.

"The good news is... Jason is making huge improvements daily, and we expect that he will be able to return to racing in the very near future," Hewitt said. According to Racer X, Hewitt said that although a return date has not yet officially been set, he's putting Anderson's chances of making it back for Budds Creek at 95%.

As for Anderson, he said in a social media post (below) that he's back on the bike and ready to get back to racing.

"4 days of riding and already itching to be back on the gate," he wrote. "I will probably get my ass kicked with my 2 month vacation.. but you might see me out there..... maybe."
