UPDATE: Ben Townley has since sustained an injury at a race in Coonabarabran that will keep him out of action for about four months.
Ben Townley will return to racing in the United States earlier than planned after signing a deal with TwoTwo Motorsports to replace Chad Reed for the upcoming Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season. Townley last appeared on the circuit in 2010. One of his best seasons came in 2007, when he went to head-to-head all season long with Ryan Villopoto for the championship in the lites class. He originally planned to compete in Australia this year and then return for the outdoor nationals in 2013, but couldn't pass up the opportunity to join Chad's team. "It’s an incredible opportunity and one I will be grabbing with both hands," Townley said. "I can’t wait to work with the team to race and further develop the bike throughout the season."
