The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki team will be without the services of two of their riders for the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, as Adam Cianciarulo and Martin Davalos will both miss the entire 2018 season.

Cianciarulo is coming off a stellar supercross campaign in which he finished second overall in 250SX West, ending the year just two points shy of title winner Aaron Plessinger. The success came in spite of the fact that Cianciarulo has been dealing with the effects of a torn ACL for more than a year — an injury that the 21-year-old will now undergo surgery to fix.

AC is just one year removed from his best Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season to-date. He finished third overall in 250MX points (easily a new career high) in 2017 and earned the first overall victory of his 250MX career by winning at Budds Creek.

"I'm very disappointed that I won't be out there doing what I love and competing this summer," Cianciarulo said in a team statement. "At the same time, I'm excited to get this behind me so I can be at my very best going into next season and many seasons to come."

Davalos was already expected to miss at least the first portion of the outdoor season as he recovers from injuries that include a torn MCL, herniated disc and C7 fracture, but the latest news from the team confirms that he will be out for the entire season as well.

One of last summer's biggest surprises, Davalos logged several podium finishes aboard a 450 late in the 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season.

"This season has been very tough for me," Davalos said in a team statement. "After multiple evaluations and doctor visits, I’ve decided I will need the time to recover and get back to feeling healthy while doing what I love most. I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to work with the entire Pro Circuit Kawasaki crew again and thankful for all of their time, efforts and support throughout this whole process."

With Cianciarulo and Davalos sidelined, Joey Savatgy and Austin Forkner will enter the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season as the team's lone veterans, though Forkner is making his way back from an injury of his own (a broken collarbone). The team roster will also include 16-year-old Garrett Marchbanks, who will be making his pro debut at Hangtown.
