Jason Anderson will miss this weekend's round at Thunder Valley, plus several weeks after that, after suffering a compound fracture to his foot on Thursday.

The injury occurred while Anderson was practicing at Glen Helen. According to reports, he collided with another rider who was attempting to help a downed rider on the track.

Anderson posted several updates to his Instagram story on Thursday night, including the one below:

A second, and more graphic, post showed the open wound underneath the sock and had the following caption: "A bump in the road but I will be back as fast as possible and I will race before the season is over. Sorry everyone I won't be making it this weekend but I'll be back A$AP."

The injury comes at an unfortunate time, as the 450 supercross champion put in a great ride last weekend at the Glen Helen National. Anderson led 12 of 14 laps in Moto 2 before getting passed by Tomac late in the race. That helped propel Anderson to a third-place overall finish (4-2). He's currently tied with Justin Barcia for third in points.

Rockstar Energry Husqvarna Factory Racing later said, in a statement, that Anderson has already undergone surgery and is expected to need four to six weeks to recover. According to the team, the goal is for Anderson to return for Round 10 at Unadilla on August 11. That means he would miss the next seven rounds.
